WEDNESDAYITE WEEKLY

ONE LAST PUSH - THEN WE PARTY!

EDDIE'S BLOG

Wow. From dead an buried to within touching distance of probably the most memorable promotion in our history, in the space of two months! For a long time it looked like the incredible form we were showing still wouldn't be enough to catch our porcine neighbours - and yet the scenario that none of dared to even dream about in case it didn't happen came to pass, and we're going into the final game of the season not only with our destiny in our own hands, but also the unbridled glee of heaping yet more misery and pain on that lot from Sheffield 2 - payback indeed for all the 'mind the gap' and 'we've finished your season' rubbish that we heard before the Derby at Hillsborough.

But deep down, all true Owls knew that the Blunts didn't have it - that as long as we kept doing our job and winning our games, they would crack under the pressure. And so we come to this - the incredible prospect of over 37,000 Wednesdayites filling all four sides of Hillsborough to roar the lads on the close the season out and cement our place back in the second tier. I have never known anticipation for a match like it - the incredible scenes as the West Stand tickets sold out inside four hours; the mad rush for inflatables, blue and white balloons and confetti from local shops; and most incredibly, most memorably, the scenes of sheer pandemonium in pubs, train stations and coaches at the final whistle at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening, all caught on cameraphones and uploaded to YouTube.

What a day last Saturday was. What a moment when Llera headed home the winner. What a week it's been...and tomorrow will be even better still. Enjoy every minute - and let's cheer the lads on to beat Wycombe and claim what's rightfully theirs. UP THE OWLS.

B2BW - AMAZING EFFORT & A JOB WELL DONE

CHARITY BIKE RIDE

They couldn't have picked tougher conditions to try to ride two hundred miles from Brentford back to Sheffield, but by jove, they slogged on and completed the job!

Through wind, rain, London traffic, Midlands potholes and a good number of punctures, our incredible team of riders, headed up by David Hirst, completed their task of cycling back from the Brentford game in support of Bluebell Wood Childrens' Hospice. They arrived at their goal at 4:30pm on Tuesday, after four gruelling days in the saddle.

Of course, the entire point of the ride (apart from to punish some of our directors and members!) was to get as close to their target of £5000 as possible.

Well, the JustGiving ticker on our donation page is currently sitting at £3976 - tantalisingly shy of £4000, but still ticking higher. We'll have donation buckets at the Wednesdayite Lounge and Car Park for the Wycombe game - we'll also be publicising the appeal at half time, with the text number going up on the scoreboard - please do donate in any way that you can!

Donate to the campaign now via text - simply send the message:

Owls91 £5 to 70070 to donate £5, or send:

Owls91 £10 to 70070 to donate a tenner!

For more details and the entire story of the ride - with all the pictures, videos, tweets and blogs from the front line, click below - you can also donate online by doing the same thing!

OWLS BLOG: IT'S NOT OVER YET!

FAN BLOG

Owls Blogger and Sky Sports fan zone SWFC blogger Carl Mullooly returns to Wednesdayite.com for the final game of the Owls 2011-12 season and looks at what could be a tense day on Saturday.

"If you would have told me 2 weeks ago we would go into the final game of the season favourites for automatic promotion I wouldn't have believed you. Three things happened shortly after my last blog, which I believe shifted the momentum from red to blue in the Steel City.

Firstly, the conviction of Ched Evans. Wednesday fans joke that United are a one man team, but we all know that you don't get 89 points in a league season without key players across the pitch. That being said, to lose your talisman in those circumstances so close to the end of a season would be a blow to any team. That alone wasn't enough to shift the balance.

Secondly, Sheffield United failed to score and suffered defeat at MK Dons in the immediate aftermath of the Ched Evans saga. Had James Beattie scored that guilt edged chance in the final moments of that game, not only would United still be in the driving seat, but it might well have given him the confidence to finish another chance he missed in the subsequent two all draw against Stevenage."

MATCH PREVIEW: WYCOMBE

MATCH PREVIEW

It's the biggest match of the Owls season on Saturday with the Owls just needing to match the Bl*des result to gain automatic promotion, although put more simply 3 points will do it!

Wednesdayite.com match previewer Ricky Charlesworth previews the Owls v Wycombe Wanderers League One game which takes place on Saturday 5th May 2012 with a 3pm kick off.

WEDNESDAY v WYCOMBE
Hillsborough
Saturday May 5
3pm

LOWDOWN
The hottest ticket in town this weekend will be at a jam-packed Hillsborough as the Owls look to clinch a place in the 2012-13 Championship.

Dave Jones’ men go into the clash against Wycombe on the back of an amazing 13-match unbeaten run. A haul of 33 points from a possible 39 has seen Wednesday overhaul city rivals United and move into that crucial second place with just one league match remaining.

Automatic promotion would be an outstanding way to end the season for Wednesday, especially given the fact that they trailed second place for a majority of the season. Last weekend proved a crucial turning point in what has been an eventful season in nPower League One, as an Owls win at Brentford was followed by a stalemate at Bramall Lane. That set of results ensures that a win against Wanderers this weekend, in front of a 38,000-plus crowd, will send Wednesday back into the Championship at the second time of asking.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TOMORROW

So, with more Wednesdayites heading to S6 tomorrow than at any time since 1993, it's going to be insane out there!

Our Wednesdayite Lounge will be open at the Niagara Club from 12:30pm (free entry for members, £1 for guests) - and is bound to be bouncing - so get there early to guarantee a seat!

The Wednesdayite Car Park is likewise open for business, and expects to be full before kick-off - please try to get to us in good time to ensure that you don't miss out.

Make sure you bring all the colour, noise and inflatables you can - we're making it a huge party atmosphere on all four sides - and it really will lift the team as they hopefully rubber-stamp promotion!

The club have requested that nobody invades the pitch at full-time, or there will be no lap of honour from the players.

And after the match, if we've won, why not head up to Hillsborough Corner, where there is bound to be an incredible street party going on?

Have a great day from all at Wednesdayite!
