Peter Shaw is the author of these notes and his latest column from the home game V AFC Bournemouth is published below:-

We extend a big welcome this evening to the fans of AFC Bournemouth. "The Cherries" have been one of the most consistent teams in the Championship this season and it is quite a story. As I write these notes they lie in 4th position, with the best goal difference in the division. They were our final opponents at Hillsborough in 2013 and ran out 2-1 winners. We will need to be at our very best this evening if we are to achieve a result against one of the form teams in the country. MEMORABLE MATCHES

Last season I chose the match at Dean Court in January, 2005, when Paul Heckingbottom equalised with a header from a corner in injury time. However I feel our penultimate away game of last season eclipsed that. Goals from Atdhe Nuhui and Sam Hutchinson meant the score was locked at 2-2 with a few minutes to go but a goal by Leon Best and then Chris Maguire deep into injury time, gave us all the points as we ran out 2-4 winners. However I have to give AFC Bournemouth a special mention here. In the first game of the season they scored the fastest goal when Marc Pugh scored straight from the KO after about 20 seconds. They went on to beat Huddersfield away 4-0 and in their last away match they beat Birmingham 8-0 at St. Andrews! So we have quite a challenge tonight against a Bournemouth side which knocked premiership WBA out of the League Cup only last Tuesday.

Our well known landlord, David Hirst, will be back at the 1867 Lounge on 3 December to host the second Hirsty’s Bar of the season. Once again, Wednesdayite are working with SWFC on this event which will be raising funds for the SWFC Community Programme and the SWFC Academy.
